7th GRADE CLASS (2008-2009)

Art (Lisa Thomas)-Students will be learning art from around the world. Famous artist and their most important works.  They will also be exposed to different types of art mediums as well as a few seasonal projects .  (supplies: $10 art fee to be paid at Parent Meeting; 2 composition notebooks -one for each semester; 1 pkg. colored pencils (at least 12 can be larger for more range); 1 small pencil sharpener; 2 or 3 sharpened pencils)
*All supplies should be available to use each week  
** may want to purchase a small bag or some item to store smaller objects

History (Enid Valentine)- This year we will focus on ancient history. (supplies: $5 copy fee to be paid at Parent Meeting; folder with prongs and pockets; paper; pen or pencil)

Math (Tracy Cochran)- The first semester will be devoted to two concepts:  working with fractions and problem solving.  The second semester will be devoted to several math concepts, which include decimals, ratios, proportions, percent, perimeter, area & volume. *NOTE: Calculators are prohibited until the week of March 5th* (supplies: $5 copy fee, pencils, notebook paper, pocket folder)

Science (Lyn Gladden)- Life Science with an emphasis on classification of living organisms.  The study will begin with the definition of life and then a study of all the major groups of living organisms. Students are expected to take notes and show their work.  There will be quizzes/tests from time to time.  There will also be a couple of projects and occasional homework during the school year. (supplies:  any notebook, pencil or pen, a few colored pencils)

Writing (Debbie Hopper) - History based writing lessons in structure, style, vocabulary and grammar. (supplies: $5 copy fee to be paid at Parent Meeting, folder for work, pen, paper,  highlighter)

Report cards will be given for each semester for grades 3-12. Students are assigned grades based on class work, homework, class participation and tests. Students enrolling in 7th grade classes must attend for the entire day.
