We do not use e-mail as a primary communication tool. Because of this, we send very few e-mails to our members. We reserve e-mail communication for items such as:
- Monthly reminders for newsletter submission
- Special local homeschool-related sales or promotions
- Local homeschool-related media reports (local TV, radio and newspaper)
- Calls to action on homeschool legislation
We use very specific criteria to determine how we distribute regular, critical information to our members. The medium used to distribute our primary communication must meet the following criteria:
- Available to all of our members.
- The most reliable method of delivery.
- Have the highest likelihood of readability.
- Must protect the privacy of our members.
E-mails fail to meet our criteria for regular, critical communication for the following reasons:.
- Not all of our members have e-mail. It wouldn't be fair to them to get their information later...or not at all.
- Many e-mails bounce - servers are down, addresses have changed, mailboxes are full, computers are broken. Reliability is less than what might be assumed..
- Many people have an e-mail address but, for a variety of reasons, they do not regularly access or read their e-mail.
- See our Safety and Privacy Policy. E-mails can be too easily forwarded or posted on the Internet, which can violate our policy of protecting member information.
