ELIGIBILITY

Must Be Correct Age
Teams are determined generally by grade, but specifically by age. The Arkansas Christian Conference (ACC; the athletic organization under which each school/organization has one vote) has set specific age requirements.

  • Elementary sports - cannot turn 13 before September 1 of the school year in which they compete.
  • Junior high sports - cannot turn 16 before September 1 of the school year in which they compete.
  • High school sports - cannot turn 19 before September 1 of the school year in which they compete.

Must Be A Registered Homeschooler
Participation on a Flames sports team requires that the student be a registered homeschooler. A copy of a submitted Letter of Intent is required as part of the Flames Registration. In order to be considered a homeschool student, a Letter of Intent to Homeschool must be filed with the school district, the student must be a full-time student, and at least half of the coursework must be done at home.

The Flames participate in state and national homeschool athletic competitions. We are expected to comply with their rules and regulations and compete at a par with the other teams. These rules require that all players be homeschooled.

A copy of the Flames Registration form may be found in the Forms section.

Must Sign the Code of Conduct
Parents and students must agree to abide by and sign the PCHEA Code of Conduct agreement. The Flames Code of Conduct can be downloaded from the Forms section.

Must Reside Within Pulaski County
The participating student must be a resident of Pulaski County. Exceptions will be considered in accordance with Arkansas Christian Conference league rules.

In a 2002-2003 ACC meeting, a new eligibility rule was adopted. The new rule states that the home school athletic groups (Faulkner, Saline, and Pulaski) can have players only from within their respective county. This rule was made to keep homeschool players within one of the counties switching at will and ruining the programs. However, at present, this rule also has the effect of preventing any players from outside Pulaski County (including those with no sports programs) from playing on the Flames teams.
